Professionally Qualified Staff

The center’s staff includes physicians, licensed mental health professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, licensed clinical professional counselors, and social workers, as well as experienced research staff and medical assistants. Our therapists are highly trained professionals who facilitate psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions and provide support and integration services afterward. Our multidisciplinary team of clinicians has a combined 100+ years of training and experience and has published research with these medicines; many are on staff in academic and medical systems such as the Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research and Dana Farber Cancer Center. Our staff has published in key scientific publications, including the Journal of Palliative Medicine, JAMA Oncology, Journal of American Society of Aging, Journal of Affective Disorders, and Journal of Psychopharmacology, and contributed to policy papers that are being applied at the national level. Our staff is also involved in creating the architecture of psychedelic medicine nationally, advising on board certification and CPT codes for insurance reimbursements, as well as developing training standards for therapists and standards of care for patients.

Evidence-Based Practices

Sunstone Therapies uses evidence-based practices in their treatment approaches. As we continue to innovate, we also continue to learn together. Consistent with emerging and established research, Sunstone delivers cutting-edge clinical care with these medicines. With a collaborative ethos, our staff continues to learn and better deliver the necessary preparation, support around dosing, and meaningful integration of experiential medicine.
04

Informed Consent and Safety Protocols

Psychedelic-assisted therapy involves a unique set of risks and benefits, and it is important that patients are fully informed of these before beginning treatment. Above all else, we ensure patient safety and well-being. Our therapists use psychometrically valid measures, along with a clinical interview, to discern whether psychedelic medicine is appropriate for patients and, importantly, when they are contraindicated. We communicate in an ongoing way with referring providers to help optimize patient care.
05

Follow-Up Care and Support

Sunstone is committed to supporting each patient’s healing journey. Our therapists offer personalized resources to aid in the continuation of integration care. Sunstone anticipates introducing additional community and integration programs in the near future.
